The book and the website enable you to be part of the jury that decides whether Captain Siborne is guilty or innocent of the charges made against him by more recent historians.

The evidence from both sides is presented to you with photographic evidence and analysis of the day’s events. But it is you who will decide (and you who will vote on this website) as to his guilt or innocence.

Charge 2
That William Siborne deliberately suppressed evidence and distorted the true historical events in order to enhance the British performance at the Battle of Waterloo to the detriment of the Netherlands army.

Charge 3
That William Siborne committed these acts for financial gain.

Charge 4
That Sir Hussey Vivian and others paid Siborne in order to have their part, and the part played by their regiments, highlighted in the history and distorted in order to appear that their actions were greater and more decisive than they really were in fact.

Charge 5
That the Duke of Wellington indirectly brought pressure on William Sibourne to amend his model of the battle in order to falsely place the Prussian army further back than originally placed in order to make the Prussian contribution less pronounced that it would otherwise have been.

Charge 6
That the 1st Corps of the Prussian army commanded by Lieutenant-General von Zeithern arrived in more decisive fashion on the afternoon of 18th June 1815 and was the main cause of the French rout.

Charge 7
That the 1st Corps of the Prussian army commanded by Lieutenant-General Count von Bulow and the 2nd Corps of the Prussian army commanded by General Major Von Firch were further advanced towards Plancenoit than shown on the revised Sibourne model and that they captured the village at about the same time or very soon after the defeat of the French Imperial Guard on the ridge between Hougoumont and La Haye Sainte.
